"The Way" is a band born from the heart of the pandemic, as a creative escape from the realities of COVID, the constant threat of boredom, and the looming professional burnout that was slowly creeping into the lives of its members. What started as a few friends jamming in a living room quickly transformed into a passionate pursuit that would change their lives.

Through countless hours of practice, and jam sessions, they refined their sound, building their unique spin of all the music they forgot they loved from the 80’s and 90’s alternative rock genre.

When the gloom of lockdown began to lift, they performed at local farmer’s markets and small backyard gatherings. The music began to reach a wider audience organically, and soon they found themselves booking gigs in LA and Ventura counties.

What began as a means to escape the pandemic's harsh realities became the silver lining that reignited a love of 80s and 90s music to all that heard them play. At each gig, what starts out as a few foot taps explodes into widespread dancing and singing.

"The Way" is not just a band; it's proof that it’s never too late to pick up the guitar, the drums, the mic, or the bass…and live the dream.

Erik "E"

Guitar

Early in Erik's career he worked as a music engineer, mixer, and eventually producer. So you could say music was already in his blood. He worked with many known artists including Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Dionne Warwick, P. Diddy, Rod Stewart, and Inner Circle. Eventually, however, his career pivoted towards technology and finally landed him in cyber security. Aside from his career, he’s a husband, a father, and a fisherman

Mike "Coop"

Vocals

“Coop” sang a gig for his 40th birthday but had no idea those vocal skills would someday land him as the lead singer for The Way. Mike is a marketing professional and has worked at notable company’s such as JD Power, TrueCar, and Saatchi & Saatchi. Since then, Mike has become an entrepreneur and co-founded SoCal Approach as Chief Marketing Officer. Mike doesn’t just love music and marketing. He loves his family, football, and entertaining (the dude is damn funny).

Sean "the Fuzz"

Drums

Sean is a bona fide jack of all trades. He was a handyman, a make-up artist, a salesperson, a recruiter, and is currently an HR operations leader. When not designing people systems or infrastructure, and of course, when he’s not drumming, Sean can be found tinkering on a vast number of things such as the band’s trailer, stage lighting, the band’s website and merchandise store, as well as anything that needs “MacGyvering”.

James

Bass

James is the newest addition to the band. Now here’s something you might not expect. James is a talented hairdresser at Jamie’s Hair Salon and Day Spa in Thousand Oaks. Prior to joining The Way, James was, and continues to be, a bassist in the rock band Old School, where his father, founder of Jamie’s Salon, plays guitar. James came to the band with tons of talent and creativity which made him an immediate partner. He's is a lifetime resident of Thousand Oaks where he continues to live with his wife.
